Design and Implementation of the Data Center and Virtualization Infrastructure for Shahid Mohammad Montazeri Power Plant

Project Overview

The project for designing and implementing the data center and virtualization infrastructure of Shahid Mohammad Montazeri Power Plant was carried out with the goal of creating a stable, secure, and scalable platform for the organization’s IT services.

This project included the design and implementation of the data center’s physical infrastructure, the supply of processing and storage equipment, network infrastructure development, deployment of the virtualization platform, installation and configuration of security equipment, and complete operational training for the plant’s technical staff.

Given the critical importance of IT service stability in power generation industries, all equipment and implementation solutions were designed and executed in accordance with data center standards — ensuring increased reliability while allowing for future infrastructure expansion.

Design and Implementation of Data Center Infrastructure

In the first phase of the project, the power plant’s physical data center infrastructure was designed and implemented. This phase included the complete execution of the communications infrastructure, structured cabling, and preparation of equipment racks, carried out in accordance with data center standards and the plant’s 24-hour operational requirements.

Supply of Enterprise Servers

To build a powerful processing infrastructure, next-generation HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 enterprise servers were supplied for the plant’s data center. These servers were used to host virtual machines, organizational services, operational systems, and mission-critical software for the power plant.

Supply of Enterprise Storage System

To create centralized storage capacity, Dell EMC Unity 380 enterprise storage equipment was supplied and deployed for the plant’s data center. This storage system serves as the central repository for virtual machine data, files, databases, and organizational services.

Implementation of the Virtualization Platform

One of the most important parts of the project was the design and implementation of the data center’s virtualization infrastructure. In this phase, all of the plant’s required services were deployed on the virtual platform, enabling simpler management, increased availability, and optimal use of hardware resources.

Supply of Network and Security Equipment

To build a stable and secure network, Cisco enterprise networking and information security equipment — including enterprise switches, routing equipment, network communication devices, and firewalls — was supplied and installed for the plant’s data center. This equipment is responsible for protecting the network infrastructure, controlling traffic, and enhancing information security.
